My Artistic Journey

From There to Here (with Tea!)
Born on what many would consider the "wrong side of the wall" when Germany was still divided, I was the odd one out in a tiny village.
After leaving school at 16, I embarked on a creative apprenticeship, and through a few delightful detours and a fair bit of determination, I came to Britain at 27 to study my BA in Illustration.
Why Britain? Because I had watched Sense and Sensibility on the big screen, fell in love with the green hills, and dreamt of visiting National Trust houses and then going home for tea. (Isn't this a marvellous thought?)

Two Decades of Discovery
My journey as an artist has been a rich, two-decade creative adventure, winding through diverse disciplines.
From crafting visual stories as a window dresser and graphic designer to illustrating for magazines, creating intricate paper sculptures, and kids' illustrations, every step taught me invaluable lessons in composition, colour, and bringing ideas to life.
But it was a profound moment – a stark reminder of life's fleeting nature – that truly spurred me to pick up that paintbrush. I was driven by a deep desire to create something lasting, something that would continue to bring light and connection into the world long after I'm gone.

The Heart of My Art
Now, from my front room studio in Muswell Hill, North London, my mission as a Painter of Happiness is simple: to capture those perfect little moments that make busy days truly worthwhile.
You know that feeling when morning light hits your coffee cup just right? Or when you finally use the good china on a Tuesday, just because? That's the essence of what I paint. Each small oil painting of fruit, flowers, and everyday treasures is an invitation to slow down and notice the beauty hiding in plain sight.
Because despite being ridiculously busy, sometimes it's simply about finding those moments of genuine connection and quiet joy.
